Our Story

Standing Up for Small-Boat Fishermen

Small-scale fishers — the “little fish” — are being squeezed out as the industry becomes more corporate. Larger boats dominate the catch, and big processors set the prices, making it harder for independent boats to stay on the water.

When small boats fade from the coastline, so do local dollars. Another casualty is the the everyday firsthand monitoring of ocean health that only they provide.

Every fish we sell is wild-caught by small, independent Pacific Coast boats that know and care for these waters. No farmed seafood, no trawl-caught seafood — just honest, responsible harvests delivered fresh or frozen, locally and nationwide.

Thank you for supporting small-boat fishing and helping keep our way of life alive.

Who We Are

A Community of Fishermen
and Seafood Lovers

We are actual fishermen, watermen, sailors who make our living from and love the sea. Little Fish is a small operation swimming against the corporatization of the fishing industry. Large companies and destructive fishing practices have made it more challenging for small-boat fishermen to succeed. Little Fish aims to address these challenges in our own little way.

Little Fish Fine Seafood Market supports small boat fishers by buying sustainably sourced seafood at fair prices. We understand the challenges of value adding because we experience them. Our facility provides local commercial (and sport) fishermen with the tools and resources needed to process their catch. We also provide space for fishers and seafood entrepreneurs to create and market specialty products, encouraging adding value to local catches and utilization of abundant underutilized or even invasive species.

Little Fish is dedicated to preserving the legacy and livelihoods of small-scale fishing families, as well as supporting responsible sport fishing activities and the enjoyment of our coast.

Consumers can help by buying local and from direct seafood marketers like us. Your choices matter.
